Ruqyah & Āyāt of Shifā
A quick recitation sheet for sickness, healing, protection, and suspected evil eye.
These are Qur’anic verses and authentic duʿās commonly recited for ruqyah and healing. The six “Āyāt of Shifā” are a traditional collection of verses mentioning healing; they are not established as one fixed Sunnah formula.
1. The 6 Commonly Collected Āyāt of Shifā
1. Surah At-Tawbah — 9:14
قَاتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ
“Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands, disgrace them, give you victory over them, and heal the hearts of a believing people.”
2. Surah Yūnus — 10:57
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِّمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
“O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and a healing for what is within the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.”
3. Surah An-Naḥl — 16:69
ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ فَاسْلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِن بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَانُهُ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
“Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord made easy for you. From their bellies comes a drink of varying colours, in which there is healing for people. Surely in this is a sign for those who reflect.”
4. Surah Al-Isrā’ — 17:82
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
“We send down from the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrongdoers in loss.”
5. Surah Ash-Shuʿarā’ — 26:80
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
Wa idhā mariḍtu fahuwa yashfīn.
“And when I become ill, it is He who cures me.”
6. Surah Fuṣṣilat — 41:44
وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا أَعْجَمِيًّا لَّقَالُوا لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ ۖ أَأَعْجَمِيٌّ وَعَرَبِيٌّ ۗ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ
“Say: It is guidance and healing for those who believe.”
2. Main Qur’anic Recitations for Ruqyah
Surah Al-Fātiḥah
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
Āyat al-Kursī — Al-Baqarah 2:255
اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ
Surah Al-Ikhlāṣ
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Surah Al-Falaq
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
Surah An-Nās
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
مَلِكِ النَّاسِ
إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ
مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ
الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ
مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
مَلِكِ النَّاسِ
إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ
مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ
الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ
مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
Al-Ikhlāṣ, Al-Falaq, and An-Nās may be recited three times, followed by lightly blowing into the hands and wiping over the body.
3. Duʿā of the Prophet ﷺ for Sickness
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ، اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Allāhumma Rabban-nās, adhhib il-ba's, ishfi Antash-Shāfī, lā shifā'a illā shifā'uk, shifā'an lā yugādiru saqaman.
“O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and cure her. You are the Healer. There is no cure except Your cure—a cure that leaves no illness behind.”
4. Ruqyah Duʿā
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُؤْذِيكِ، مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ نَفْسٍ أَوْ عَيْنِ حَاسِدٍ، اللَّهُ يَشْفِيكِ، بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكِ
Bismillāhi arqīki, min kulli shay'in yu'dhīki, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ʿayni ḥāsid, Allāhu yashfīki, bismillāhi arqīki.
“In the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you, from everything harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye. May Allah cure you. In the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you.”
5. Protection from the Evil Eye
أُعِيذُكِ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ
Uʿīdhuki bi-kalimātillāhit-tāmmati, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmatin, wa min kulli ʿaynin lāmmah.
“I seek protection for you in the perfect words of Allah from every devil, every harmful creature, and every harmful evil eye.”

Then make your own sincere duʿā asking Allah to cure her completely, protect her from every evil, and grant her ʿāfiyah.
Ruqyah and medical treatment are not opposites. Continue any necessary medical care while making duʿā and reciting Qur’an.
